Helping you take back control

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is not a therapy in itself. Rather, a therapy which is conducted in hypnosis,  is known as hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with the state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion. It is a natural trance state, like daydreaming, when the mind is relaxed and focused, where time passes very quickly, accompanied by good feelings of deep relaxation of mind and body.

Hypnotherapy is a treatment that is based on the premise that the mind and body do not work in isolation. By helping the patient into a hypnotic state, the therapist aims to trigger the body's mental and physical self-healing processes that lie in the subconscious.

Anybody can be sent into a hypnotic state; it is not a sign of gullibility or suggestibility on the part of the patient. Hypnosis induces a state of relaxation and concentration that is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.

When undergoing hypnotherapy, patients are conscious and aware, but are open to the power of suggestion. They cannot be induced to do anything against their will.

Some Hypnosis Myths

OVER the years, hypnosis has picked up all sorts of weird associations from stage hypnotists, the media and superstition. This is shame, because in reality, hypnosis is your single most effective tool for change .

Hypnosis Myth 1:    Some people can't be hypnotised

The only reason you can't be hypnotised is if you are incapable of paying attention due to extremely low IQ ( i.e Very Young Children) or brain damage. That's not to say that every hypnotist can hypnotise you however. The more flexible the hypnotist, the more effective he/she will be with the largest number of people.

Hypnosis Myth 2:  Hypnosis is something strange that other people do to you

If you couldn't go into hypnosis, you wouldn't be able to sleep, to learn, or get nervous through 'negative self hypnosis'. (when you imagine things going wrong and it makes you feel anxious? Well that's negative self hypnosis!)

Hypnosis is simply a utilisation of the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) or dream state  , hypnosis is a natural ability which everyone possesses .

Hypnosis Myth 3 :  You lose control in hypnosis

Crazy news stories, stage hypnotists and gossip have created the illusion that you lose control in hypnosis.  In fact, when in hypnosis , you are relaxed and focused – and able to choose to get up and walk away at any time. You choose to give your attention to the hypnotist, and you can withdraw it at any time.

If you have been scared or wary of hypnosis in the past, we have hopefully convinced you that hypnosis is safe, effective and natural.
